The Butterfly Barnyard Baby Blanket was designed by Judel and Judy Niemeyer in 2014 to show the impacts of using non-batik fabrics in paper-piecing our designs. We used a reproduction line by Darlene Zimmerman for Robert Kaufman Fabrics called Penny & Friends and selected two contrasting prints for a simple, modern layout of just one Quiltworx border block. Mixing the softness of the 1930s, with an updated, classic border design of repeating spikes, we created a fun “fence-inspired” layout, inspired by a barnyard. With appliquéd butterflies to offset the background, you create an adorable baby quilt that is sure to keep every baby it touches wrapped in love. The design features the following Quiltworx techniques, including floating points, and Template Layout Sheets. This package includes all of the papers and instructions you need to complete the quilt on the coversheet. It also includes the applique templates. Stabilizers or fusible interfacing for shaping the applique is not included and should be purchased separately. We recomend Bosal Stitch-N-Peel, which can be found in an 8-1/2″ x 11″ sheet set (1 package is needed) in the Related Products Below.
