Holiday-Chevron-Tablerunners Marquee

THIS PATTERN HAS BEEN DISCONTINUED

The Holiday’s Chevron Table Runner is a beginner project designed by Judy, Judel, and Brad Niemeyer.  We characterize it as a beginner project because it only requires the use of one foundation unit to complete, has fast and simple cutting instructions, and does not involve any sewing advanced sewing techniques to complete.  The project can be completed in one day if you have about 6 to 8 hours of uninterrupted time.

Fabrics for the samples on the coversheet, which were selected based on Holiday themes, were provided by Hoffman California fabrics.

The most exciting feature of the Holiday’s Chevron Table Runner for Quiltworx.com is that we have provided a free video tutorial for you to reference as you make your table runner!  We completed most of this video in April of 2013 and challenged ourselves to do it in one day, while we were making one of the samples for the cover sheet.  To watch the video, click on the Holiday’s Chevron Table Runner Instructional Video link to the Right, under the heading, Techniques.  Since this Video was intended to be free, a one take, one chance, one camera, and mostly one person kind of an effort, we have some caveats…

  • No one was hurt in the making of this video!
  • However, there are a few blurry spots due to the fact that the video was done mostly by one person, with one camera, and without being able to do any second takes.
  • The original samples were completed using foundation papers for the Cattails in the Meadow Border.
  • The GOOD NEWS about this!!!  The papers didn’t change in size from the original samples to the final pattern you will purchase.
  • The BAD NEWS (well, not really bad, just something you need to be aware of)…The section numbers did change, which changes the sewing order in the paper piecing process.  The unit name also changed.  PLEASE MAKE THE FOLLOWING MENTAL NOTES!  Unit BF3-L, in the video, is now Unit CV1-L (This stands for Chevron type 1 -Left).  They are all the same units for this pattern!  Cut them out the same way the that the Foundation and Color Organization video directs you to!  Also…Section 1 and Section 2, remained the same.  Section 4 on the video is now Section 3, Section 5 is now Section 4, and Section 3 is now Section 5.  PLEASE sew your units together in the order of the papers on the patterns.  Simply reference the video for tips and tricks and a visual example of how foundation papers work!
  • Cutting Instructions were updated.  Because they were changed, we have redone the video for the cutting.  We did this using different fabrics to the foundation paper piecing project.  However, since you are using your own unique fabric combination, it really doesn’t matter what color we use, it simply matters that you use the right piece in the right place on the foundation unit!
  • I made a minor booboo…and corrected that with a caption in the video.  The 5″ x 3″ strips I cut are supposed to be 5″ x 3-1/2″ strips!!!  The pattern is correct!
  • We did not redo the entire video because we did not want to video the making of the new sample.  As a free video, we felt the content of the original was extremely valuable and will serve as a great reference for anyone wanting to learn this project, regardless of the minor changes we made as we created the pattern.
  • Enjoy the video!  We hope that it provides you lots of fun hints and additional information, along with a great visual example to help you build confidence in your project!  Watch for more of these endeavors in the future as we continue to improve the manner in which we deliver paper pieced patterns and instruction to help our customers achieve great success time and again using foundation paper piecing!
