Bio
Maureen Wood is a Judy Niemeyer Quilting Certified Instructor from British Columbia who has been quilting since 2004, and who has developed a passion for foundation paper piecing using Judy Niemeyer Quilting designs and techniques. She has attended numerous “Judy” workshops and Montana retreats and has completed over thirty beautiful quilts using Judy’s patterns and designs. She has also been known to modify Judy’s patterns to create other functional articles such as placemats and bags, and was the designer for the layout of the Cappuccino: A Party for 4 table runner and placemat pattern. Maureen is certified to instruct a wide variety of Judy Niemeyer Quilting patterns using Judy’s techniques and is delighted to share these skills, tips and techniques with others.
Maureen took an early retirement from a senior health care leadership position in 2009 in order to pursue her two passions — quilting and travel. In the past five years she has traveled to over 30 countries and has more planned over the next two years!
Maureen has a number of objectives in working as a Judy Niemeyer Quilting Certified Instructor, the most important being to assist others to develop the skills and confidence to successfully complete any of the Judy Niemeyer Quilting designs and patterns that they choose to work on. She also enjoys promoting Judy’s patterns and techniques, and supporting Judy by responding to teaching requests from Canada.
Maureen has an inventory of Judy patterns and kits available for purchase to Canadian Customers. Feel free to contact her directly for information on what she currently has available. Maureen also organizes and teaches 5 day / 4 night JNQ retreats at the Edenvale Retreat Centre in Abbotsford, BC twice a year. Participants can work on any of Judy’s patterns that they wish. Contact Maureen by email to get more information or get registered for a retreat.
Due to Maureen’s busy teaching and travel schedule, she prefers to be contacted by email rather than phone. woodma@telus.net
