Cosmic Fireworks

The Cosmic Fireworks Layout was designed by Judy and Bradley Niemeyer as the Large Project for our quarterly 2025 Quiltworx Box Program.

As a result, online video instruction for this pattern will be available on the Quiltworx YouTube channel as follows:

Quarter 1: Ponderosa Pine Star – March 5, 2025, 1-4 p.m. MST
Quarter 2: Pine Needles Star Border – June 6, 2025, 1-4 p.m. MDT
Quarter 3: Sunflower Blossoms Border – September 3, 2025, 1-4 p.m. MDT
Quarter 4: Cogs and Blocks Queen Border – December 10, 2025, 1-4 p.m. MST
Quarter 4: Wagon Wheels King Border – December 11, 2025, 1-4 p.m. MST

If you subscribe to the Quiltworx YouTube channel and set your subscription to notify you of new video content, you will see when the videos are released. Once the videos are there, they will be there forever.

If you have purchased this pattern after the live workshops, you can simply visit the YouTube channel and see them once you are ready to start the pattern.

There are a few ways to expand your Cosmic Fireworks 68″ square quilt by purchasing the pattern with the compatible expansion borders as follows:

To expand the 68″ to a 99″, purchase the Cosmic Fireworks Queen package which includes the pattern and (1) 99″ Expansion Border 242-D-008 Cogs and Blocks.
To expand the 68″ to a 80″ square, purchase the 68″ pattern and the 281-D-005 Star Shine border. You’ll need to use Quiltster.com to get yardage for this option. We do not have a kitting sheet.
To expand the 68″ to a 118″ King, purchase Cosmic Fireworks King package, which includes the pattern, (1) 80″ Expansion Border: 281-D-005 Star Shine Border, and (1) 118″ Expansion Border: 277-H-001 Wagon Wheels Border

If you want to experiment and mix and match the pieces included here with those from other designs, Quiltster is the perfect tool for you to make a quilt completely your own. Find the Snowfall Mixer Series (any size you like) and you will find a lot of blocks you can mix and match to create another design that is custom to you. Likewise, you can use many of the groups in this pattern to make other layouts as well. Explore each of these layouts to learn new ways to incorporate these blocks into future projects as well!
