Pre-cutting the fabrics is a mandatory requirement prior to taking this course. Please begin preparing for class at least 3-WEEKS prior to the class to make sure that you are able to get familiar with your pattern and complete the pre-cutting before hand. It is important that you have your pre-class cutting completed. If this step is not completed, you will have a very difficult time keeping up and participating in the instruction. We recommend reading through your entire pattern before beginning.

Fabric Selection: There are two different colorways displayed on the cover of the Golden Harvest. Judy has used the fabrics differently in these two samples to provide the option of having either a light or dark background for the center of the quilt. Please look them over carefully before deciding which quilt you would like to make. Refer to the back of your pattern for the yardage chart for the Brown Sample. The yardage chart for the Blue Sample can be found on page 13 of your pattern.

Preparing the Template Sheets: Please refer to and follow the instructions under ‘Templates, and Template Layout Sheets’ on page 2 of your pattern.

Prepare the Foundation Papers: Please refer to and follow the instructions under ‘Foundation Papers’ on page 3 of your pattern.

Cutting Instructions: Please read through ‘General Cutting Information’ on page 3 of your pattern before completing the steps below. We recommend checking our website for pattern corrections before you begin cutting your fabric. Note: Please make sure all of the Template Sheets, Foundation Sheets, and fabric pieces are placed in the correct bags!

Color Swatches: We recommend attaching a swatch of fabric to the box provided for each fabrc as you are cutting. This is very helpful in keeping your fabrics organized and ensuring that you are working with the correct piece!

Brown Sample: Follow the cutting instructions for the Brown Sample on pages 3-5. Attach your color swatches before cutting, and place your pieces in the bags specified after cutting. Stop after finishing the cutting for Color #11, Onyx. Note: Do not proceed to the ‘Cutting Fabrics with the Template Layout sheets”, as Judy will go over this in class! 

Blue Sample: Follow the cutting instructions for the Blue Sample on pages 14 and 15. Attach your color swatches before cutting, and place your pieces in the bags specified after cutting. Stop after finishing the cutting for Color #8, Sapphire. Note: Do not proceed to the ‘Cutting Fabrics with the Template Layout sheets”, as Judy will go over this in class!
