Fabric Requirements for Class: The yardage instructions are on the back page of the pattern. You can make it bigger but there is no need to cut for a bigger quilt before class unless you just want to do it. The pre-cutting instructions, which are listed below, include a list of pieces you need cut out and ready for class. If you are not sure about your fabric selections, cut the pieces out of scraps so you can learn the process for making this quilt. If you have purchased your fabric and want to cut out the whole quilt prior to class follow the cutting instructions in the pattern.

Templates: Before you make your templates read the information on page 2 about cutting templates and proceed as the instructions say. The templates must be made prior to class so you can cut out your fabric pieces. Note: If you do not want to make your templates you can purchase them through us for $6.00 a set, which would include shipping. You will need the templates prior to class. You can call with a credit card or send a check and we will mail them out to you.

Foundation Paper: You need four (4) papers for each unit cut out before class. Follow the cutting instructions for the foundation papers on page 2. Please have these ready for class. Trim the excess paper from your foundation paper about 1/8\” away from the outside cutting line. There is no need to cut out all the papers before class unless you just have time to waste. I will be demonstrating a quick and easy way to stack & trim the rest of the foundation papers in class. If you have taken a class from me before and know how to stack and trim the paper cut them out and place them into the appropriate bags as stated in the instructions.

Class Pre-cutting Instructions for each Foundation Paper Block:

Four (4) Green Fat Quarters: Page 2, Column 2. Follow Steps 1 through 5. This will be enough pieces for the Center Spikes and Geese in class. If you choose to continue cutting the whole quilt out it is fine by me.

Choose Sixteen (16) Bright Jewel-Tone Fat-Sixth: Page 3, Column 2. Follow Steps 1-7 and cut out enough pieces to make at least four (4) spikes and four (4) geese sections.

Melon Template M-2: Cut eight (8) 3-1/2″ squares. Page 3, bottom of second column.

The rest of the cutting is optional. You are more than welcome to cut everything for the whole quilt.
