Seasonal Table Runners Instructions
Jackie Kunkel
Pre-Class Instructions:
To prepare yourself for class you need to purchase your patterns, choose your fabrics and read the instructions. After reading your instructions, return back to page 2 and follow through the instruction along with this page. There are a few things you MUST do before coming to class and I have those things listed below.
Foundation Papers:
This quilt uses three (3) different foundation units. These units are, Unit H, Unit CG, and Unit CSS. Cut out enough foundation papers for each unit to complete one Table Runner. Trim the excess paper from around the outside cutting line by approximately 1/8”. It is much easier to position the fabric under the foundation paper when the excess paper has been trimmed away.
Template Layout Sheets:
Make one (1) copies of each template layout sheet found in the center of your pattern.
Cutting Instructions:
Unit H: Follow the cutting instructions for Steps 1 and 2. Place the fabric pieces with the Template Layout Sheets into Bag#1. We will complete the steps 3 and 4 in class.
Spikes: Follow and complete the cutting instructions for the spikes. Place the fabric pieces into the appropriate bags.
Unit CG1: Follow the cutting instructions for Step 1. Place the fabic pieces with the Template Layout sheets into Bag #2. We will complete the cutting for Steps 2 and 3 in class.
Unit CG2: Follow the cutting instructions for Steps 1 and 2. Place the fabric pieces with the Template Layout Sheets into Bag #2. We will complete the cutting for Steps 3 and 4 in class.
Unit CG3: Follow the cutting instructions for Steps 1 and 2. Place the fabric pieces with the Template Layout Sheets into Bag #2. We will complete the cutting for Steps 3 and 4 in class.
Unit CSS: Follow the cutting instructions for Steps 1 and 2. Place the fabric pieces with the Template Layout Sheets into Bag #3. We will complete the cutting for Steps 3 and 4 in class.
Something to Think About: If your paper, fabrics, and Template Layout Sheets are not cut and ready to use before coming to class you probably won’t get anything done other than a little bit of cutting. If you have taken a class from me and are comfortable with crosscutting all the pieces with the Template Layout Sheets, then please feel free to complete the cutting for your table runner.
In this class you will have the opportunity to learn some of the techniques that I teach and are written about in the patterns. I will teach a process for chain piecing designed for foundation paper piecing. This process is possible because the fabrics have been pre-cut using templates, designed for foundation paper piecing. I also teach speed cutting techniques for both paper and fabric. I will teach curved piecing, traditional piecing, and pressing techniques that will enable you to speed up the process for foundation paper piecing, curved piecing, and traditional piecing.
