Pre-cutting the fabrics is a mandatory requirement prior to taking this course. Please begin preparing for class at least 3-WEEKS prior to the class to make sure that you are able to get familiar with your pattern and complete the pre-cutting beforehand. It is important that you have your pre-class cutting completed. If this step is not completed, you will have a very difficult time keeping up and participating in the instruction. We recommend reading through your entire pattern before beginning.
CORRECTIONS: PLEASE visit our website prior to class and make sure that you have the latest corrections for the pattern. Corrections are listed in our pattern gallery on our website at http://quiltworx.com/patterns. Click on the Arizona Cactus pattern and check the right column of the webpage for more information. If your pattern has a QR Code printed on the back, you may also scan this with your smartphone to go directly to the page and upload the corrections to your phone.
Cutting Instructions: Please read through ‘General Information’on Page 1 of your pattern and ‘Pre-Cutting your Fabric Instructions’ on Page 2 before completing the steps below. Note: Please make sure all of the Template Sheets, Foundation Sheets, and fabric pieces are placed in the correct bags!
Foundation Papers, NP -168, NP-157 Templates, and Template Sheets, TP-65: Please refer to and follow the instructions under ‘Foundation Papers, NP -168, NP-157 Templates, and Template Sheets, TP-65’on Pages 1 and 2 of your pattern, and ‘Setting up your Bags #1-3’ on Page 2 of your pattern.
Dark Color #1, Page 2: Follow steps 1-4 under ‘Dark Color #1’. Place pieces in the specified bag.
Dark Color #2: Page 2: Follow steps 1-4 under ‘Dark Color #2’. Place pieces in the specified bag.
Dark Color #3, Page 2 & 3: Follow steps 1-4 under ‘Dark Color #3’. Place pieces in the specified bag.
Medium Color #4, Page 3: Follow steps 1-2 under ‘Medium Color #4’. Place pieces in the specified bag.
Medium Color #5, Page 3: Follow step 1 under ‘Medium Color #5’. Place pieces in the specified bag.
Medium Color #6, Page 3: Follow step 1 under ‘Medium Color #6’. Place pieces in the specified bag.
Light Color #7, Page 3: Follow step 1 under ‘Light Color #7’. Place pieces in the specified bag.
Light Color #8, Page 3: Follow step 1 under ‘Light Color #8’. Place pieces in the specified bag.

Note: Do not follow the steps that involve cutting through the Template Layout Sheets on Page 4 and 5 as Judy will go over this in class!
The following items are needed to make this quilt. Please make sure you bring the following items to class if they will not be provided by the organizer. They are essential to the techniques I teach:Sewing Machine with a quarter-inch foot and Accessories
Steam Iron ~ Usually provided in Classroom
Ironing Board ~ Usually Provided in Classroom
One piece of Template Plastic (3″ by 12″ piece)
12″ Add-a-quarter ruler
Purple Thang (optional)
6″ by 12″ ruler
Medium size cutting mat (18” by 24”)
Rotary cutter 45mm or 60 mm
Replacement rotary blade
Size 70 needles (Microtex Sharp recommended)
Scissors
Seam ripper
Power Surge protectors and Extension cords (We STRONGLY recommend making sure you have these to make sure you have power for your sewing machine).
Fabric glue UHU stic
Glue Pen (Fons and Porter, Sewline, or Avery recommended)
High quality cotton sewing thread
Flower pins
Scotch Tape
Large Ziploc Bags (If you have precut your fabric, you’ve already used your bags. Make sure to bring them labeled and full of your fabric pieces according to the cutting directions on the day of class!)
Stapler
Binder Clips
Large Paper Clips
