Bio
As a quilter, Catherine has 20+ years of quilting experience. She began teaching at local shops in 2006, starting with a beginning quilting series. With 4 years of teaching under her belt and great eye for color, she opened her online shop and began doing local guild shows in 2010. She attended her first Judy Niemeyer class in July of 2010, at CWAP (Camp Watch-A-Patcher, sponsored by the Los Angeles County Quilt Guild). The two day class she took wasn’t enough, and she quickly signed up for a retreat in Montana a month later. Thus the journey (or obsession) began. 3 trips to Montana, and multiple road trips to see Judy later (Las Vegas, Dallas, Asilomar), she applied for the Certified Instructor Program in fall of 2011, and started teaching Seasonal Tablerunner, Celebration Tree Skirt, Snowflakes and Dining with the Stars at local shops and guilds.
Catherine prefers bold bright colors, and has a tendency towards turquoise, her self-proclaimed favorite color, which seems to appear in almost all of her quilts, even when not intended. Catherine has completed the following Judy Niemeyer quilts : Amazon Star, Feathered Goose, Summer Solstice, Stepping Stones (also, Cappuccino Party for Four), Weeping Willow, Reflections, Touch of Spring, Mini Stars Tablerunner, Dining with the Stars, Seasonal Tablerunner. She always has a number of Judy quilts on the go, in different stages of completion. With this many samples, she has a great understanding of the complexity of the 12 essential techniques, as well as the teaching knowledge and experience to get the quilt finished. Whether you need help finishing up a Judy quilt, or starting from scratch, she can assist you to get it finished. You can check up with her on facebook, or her blog to check on the progress of her current project.
Catherine maintains a 7-8 session per month calendar year round, teaching as far north as Oregon, and as far east as New Mexico. She is also open to teaching elsewhere in the US and abroad if warranted.
