Bio
I began my love affair with sewing at the tender age of 9 under the tutelage of my mother. Throughout my school, college, and early professional years, I made a lot of my own clothing. Then in 1991, at the urging (again) of my mother, I went to my first quilt workshop . . . and the rest, as they say, is history. No more sewing garments, no more cross-stitching, and no more rubber stamping – only quilting!!
I quickly developed a reputation for precise piecing, probably due to my engineering background and somewhat OCD nature. Others wanted to know how I obtained the results I did and so in 1995 I began teaching others. At first I taught other people’s patterns. Then, over time, I began to design and teach my own patterns incorporating techniques for precision piecing traditional quilt blocks. I have found that I love teaching quilting and that moment when a student lights up as their project comes to life.
Then in 2007, I attended a 3-hour workshop with Judy Niemeyer. I was immediately hooked on the Quiltworx paper piecing methodology. As I made more Quiltworx patterns, I realized that Quiltworx was not just about paper piecing, it was also about techniques that aid quilt makers in being successful.
Becoming a Quiltworx Certified Instructor was a natural extension of my years of quilt teaching. My professional motto is “There is no greater joy than to help someone else succeed.” And I try to live this in every class, workshop, and retreat I teach.
