Bio
Kelly began her sewing career at the age of 6 years old. Her first sewing machine was a Singer Featherweight and that same machine has been used to create many of her Judy Niemeyer Quilts.
While Kelly’s sewing was focused on clothing for many years she made the jump into quilting in October 2010, a friend showed her the Quiltworx website and specifically the “Flowers for My Wedding Ring” pattern and she was HOOKED! She was encouraged to become a certified instructor and in February 2013, she attended her first class with Judy and she has never looked back. She now has as she describes it, “Her dream job.”
Kelly brings experience and fun to her teaching. She especially loves to teach “newbies” the technique and is described by students as patient, organized, calm and fun. Kelly is one of the busiest of the Certified Instructors with 3-4 classes a week and has teaches over 750 students each year. Her trunk shows are amazing with over 75 completed Quiltworx projects from placemats to queen size. She is comfortable speaking to groups of 40 or 400.
Kelly has begun to design utilizing Quiltster and has two patterns now published by Quiltworx, Eclipse and Anemone. She recently traveled to Bali and put together her first collection of fabric to be released in May 2019 by Batik Textiles.
She is happily married; her two children are married and on their own adventures. So, while hubby, Jerry provides support she and the “grandcat” play in the studio. She resides in Surprise, Arizona but would LOVE to travel to locations up north during the summer months but anytime would be fun.
