Bio
Patsy was born and raised in the Central San Joaquin Valley of California. A California native,
Having sewn since the 7th grade, like any new grandmother, she was eager to start making garments and projects for her new grandchildren! During an outing for material, Patsy and Randy walked into a quilt shop and there, displayed like a prized piece of art, was one of Judy’s quilts and she fell in love! She looked at Randy and said, “When I retire, I’m going to make that quilt.” Having never made a quilt before, she had no idea what it would entail.
Patsy has traveled up and down the state and loves the open road. Always by her side, her co-pilot, husband and best friend, Randy of 48 years! Patsy met Randy when she was a Senior in high school. Since then they’ve been inseparable and he can always be found not too far away wherever she may go. During their 48 years of marriage they were blessed with one son, who then gave them four wonderful grandchildren.
Patsy’s passion for creating grew just over eight years ago when the family business was sold and she and Randy retired. Within the first month of retirement Patsy bought herself a brand new sewing machine and decided to do her first quilt and, well, she was bitten! Some people catch the quilting bug and others don’t. Patsy, not only caught the bug but within her first two years of quilting, Patsy made over 100 quilts!
Her love for that Judy quilt that hung all those years ago never escaped her mind though. Ever the determined individual she tackled her first Judy quilt, a king size Bali Wedding Star. After getting Judy’s paper piecing technique down she decided it was time to finish what she promised to do and made her second Judy quilt, the one she saw hanging in that quilt shop, the Amazon Star. She now has made over 100 Judy designs.
As a certified instructor, she shares that love for Judy’s projects and paper piecing techniques with every student she meets. She feels that the best environment for creating is one where no pressure is felt and a relaxed and fun atmosphere is established. Always supportive of her students, she wants nothing more than their success and to see them excel! She is committed to teaching and helping see her students through every step of the way. Her keen eye for color, value, and texture allows her to assist not only her students but shop owners in creating project choices and kits for classes.
As a Certified Instructor, Patsy has taught at numerous quilt shops in several states. She also teaches and hosts retreats and workshops, was an Instructor at a Quiltworx University and is a featured Instructor at Empty Spools Seminars in Asilomar, CA.
Always willing to be available for her students she communicates with them via phone, email, Instagram and Facebook @ Pacrac Creations.
