Cynthy Kram
Graham, WA
Gallery of Quilts
Cynthy has been sewing most of her life, whether it was clothes, curtains or stuffed animals. Sewing has made her feel fulfilled, and has been a stress reliever and a very enjoyable career.
In 1994, she took her first quilt class and found her passion. Her love of sewing took her in a new direction that she hadn’t explored before.
Cynthy started working in a quilt shop in 1998 – selling fabrics, helping customers, cutting kits and teaching classes.
She really loves teaching how to quilt, and especially helping students get that “aha” moment. She has explored different techniques for quilting – applique, wool, hand dying, designing and many more. All have been valuable learning experiences and have helped her become a better quilting instructor.
In 2015, Cynthy took her first Judy Niemeyer class – Cactus Flower Table runner. She found she really enjoyed this style of paper piecing and has, to this date, worked on 25 or more Quiltworx patterns. She is always finding more patterns to explorer…some of her favorites being Tea Leaf Table Runner, Prismatic Star, Coral Reef and Feathered Star.
She started teaching classes using Quiltworx patterns in 2018, and has found that there are a lot of students as excited as she was to learn Judy’s method for paper piecing.
Cynthy likes helping students plan and find the perfect fabric for their quilt, showing them how to use Quiltster to achieve that goal is exciting.
She’s available to teach classes in the Puget Sound region and has no problems traveling. Cynthy would be happy to talk with you about classes for your store or retreats. Check out her Facebook page for classes!

Melody Maskus
Olathe, Colorado
Gallery of Quilts
Melody has been on her quilting journey for the past 34 years. Over the years, she learned skills from many different authors, magazines and television programs. But when Melody found her first Judy Niemeyer pattern, she knew she had found her true inspiration in quilting.
Melody found her first Judy Niemeyer pattern in 2005. It absolutely took her breath away and stopped her in her tracks. She said to herself, “Someday, I’m going to be good enough to make that.” So she bought the pattern and began her love affair with Quiltworx patterns. In 2015, she learned about the Certified Instructor program and began dreaming about becoming one, and in 2017, began the journey. It’s not a quick process, nor is it for the faint of heart. She worked hard through the requirements and persevered towards her goal. And now, she is extremely proud to say that “I am a Quiltworx Certified Instructor“!
In addition to being a Certified Instructor and teaching at local shops, for guilds, and in her home studio classroom, Melody also provides long arm quilting services and hosts quilting retreats at some of Colorado’s most beautiful venues along the western slope.
Quite simply…she absolutely loves quilting, and is a teacher at heart. Not all people learn in the same manner. As an instructor, it’s her job to find the very best way to present the information and techniques needed to complete these amazing patterns according to each student’s needs. There are never too many questions, never too many times to repeat something, and always a way to encourage and equip every person to fulfill their dreams of creating a beautiful, heirloom quilt.
She would love the opportunity to teach in your area. Colorado, Utah, Wyoming, Kansas, and Nebraska are considered her “stomping grounds”, but she considers travel to anywhere, in the USA, an exciting prospect.
Melody can be reached by email to book a Zoom or in-person class! Also check out her class listings at Owl’s Nest Quilters.

Donna Viau
Salem, New Hampshire
Gallery of Quilts
Donna started teaching beginner quilt classes in Massachusetts 40 years ago, and has had a successful run at working with textiles for over three decades. Studying graphic design and color theory, along with learning to sew as a child, she made the next natural step toward quilting, and has perfected her skills over the last 35 years.
She started her own business called “The Masquerade Costumes & Quilts” in 2006 where she dedicated her days to designing, crafting and creating her own work.
Donna has traveled to Massachusetts, Connecticut, Vermont, Maine, Florida and Washington, and has taught private groups of 2-4 students in her small studio in Salem, NH. Even if you have never used a sewing machine before – she can get you started on a simple project, and lead you through the steps to create the masterpiece of your dreams.
Foundation paper piecing caught her attention at the Vermont Quilt Festival in 2014, and led her on the road to a Quiltworx Certification.
She took on teaching via Zoom in May of 2020, and will often teach with 2 students in her studio and a few on Zoom at the same time – quickly realizing that quilters love to meet other quilters from across the country!
Donna has a presence on YouTube with over 16,000 subscribers. Check out her “Quiltworx Quilts” playlist.
The Masquerade is a “no judgement zone” and Donna embraces the perfectionist as well as the quilter who loves to say “better done than perfect” – as long as they are all having fun and enjoying the process, that’s all that matters! Her easy going attitude and fun loving sense of humor will keep you in stitches – but her attention to detail and multi-faceted teaching approach will make sure you get the instruction that is right for you.
