Judy and Brad Niemeyer designed the layout, instructions, and foundation papers for Winter Traditions in 2017 from a collection of 16” Mixer Blocks designed for foundation paper piecing. The first block is a unique design of a Snowflake designed by Quiltworx over 7 years ago. The second block is a traditional compass block that we recreated for foundation paper piecing. The third block is a 16” Traditional Feathered Star block. All three blocks are very fun and interesting to assemble. A collection of fabrics called ‘Bohemian Blues’ designed by Judy and Judel Niemeyer with Timeless Treasures were selected to make the sample shown on the cover. A sewing technique called foundation paper piecing is used to assemble the units required to make this quilt.
