Pre-cutting the fabircs is a mandatory requirement prior to taking this course. Please begin preparing for class at least 3-WEEKS prior to the class to make sure that you are able to get the pre-cutting completed before hand. This process will take you from 8 – 12 hours to complete, which does not count the time spent at the fabric store selecting fabrics to use in the quilt. If this step is not completed, you will have a very difficult time keeping up and participating in the instruction. I don’t want anyone to feel as though they have wasted their time and money.

Amazon Star Class: This class is designed to teach you foundation paper piecing techniques. you will need to purchase a copy of the pattern listed above for this class. The pattern includes the yardage, instructions, template making instructions, and the foundation papers. Read your pattern prior to class.

Cutting Instructions for the Foundation Papers: The foundation papers are located on newsprint included with your pattern. Refer to the “Prepare your Foundation Papers” at the top of the second column on page 2 for information on cutting out the foundation papers and organizing them into the appropriate groups. The organization of the papers, templates, and fabric is a critical step in this pattern as it will save you a lot of time sorting and identifying the pieces you have cut for your pattern as you sew them together.

Cutting Instructions for the Templates and Template Layout Sheets: This pattern utilizes several templates and template layout sheets. It is very important that you follow the instructions on pre-sorting the templates and fabrics into appropriate groups before you begin cutting your fabric. These instructions are provided on page 3 of your pattern. Pay special attention to whether you need to make copies of the templates and template layout sheets provided or whether you can use the ones provided in the pattern. Do not place anything into bags until you are instructed to do so in the pattern.

Yardage for a 104″ x 104″ Quilt: Yardage information is provided on the back of your pattern.

Cutting Your Fabric: After the templates and template layout sheets have been matched with the appropriate fabrics, follow the cutting instructions that begin on page 4 for each Fabric Color. To make the cutting process move faster, the instructions have been organized first by Fabric Color, then by the Bag # that each piece should be placed into. Make sure that you have your binder clips or large paper clips (or another method of clipping the various templates and pieces together) ready. If the pieces are not kept together as instructed you could spend many hours resorting the pieces before you can begin to put together your quilt.

In preparation for this class, ALL of the cutting must be completed beforehand. Please follow the instructions through the bottom of the first column on page 12 of your pattern.
