You do not need to do anything before class except have your fabric and pattern and know which fabrics you plan to use for which parts of the pattern.  Do not cut ahead of class, because Judy Niemeyer has some brilliant ways to cut it all quickly and you will be kicking yourself if you spend hours doing it the hard way ahead of class.
