Fabric:

–         7 yards of background fabric.  It can be 1 fabric, or as many fabrics as you would like, as long as the total equals 7 yards.

–         2 ½ yards of Black or other dark fabric for Center Star, Melon Star  and Corner segments.

–         1/3 yard each of 8 Jewel Tone fabrics for use in Center Star and Melon Star segments.

–         3/8 yard of dark fabric for use in Corner Squares.  (I recommend waiting on this fabric till you are ready for it.  I will explain why in class.)

Pre-Class Work

  • Number your Zip Lock bags 1 to 5
  • Prepare your Foundation Papers (page 2 of instructions)

o   Refer to page 17 for # of pieces for each bag

o   Cut out all Template Layout Sheets and Foundation Papers and put them in the assigned bags

Note:  There are some tips and tricks to cutting out the papers and using the Template Layout Sheets.  Please contact me if you are not familiar with these from other Judy Niemeyer patterns.  I will try to walk you through these over the phone, OR we can set up a time to meet you at the quilt shop to work on these.  Knowing these tips will save you some time and frustration.

  • Cut fabrics for CDS, CMS, and M Units using instructions in Chapter Two of the instructions.  The cutting instructions start on page 7 and end half way down the 2nd column of page 9.  Stop at the part that says Foundation Paper Piecing: CDS Units.  We will do that step in our first class.

o   If you do not understand what to do, STOP and give me a call.
