Paper Piecing Supplies
I am listing all the supplies I like to have on hand when I paper piece. Some patterns do not require all the listed supplies so if you are coming to class and don’t have something give me a call and see if you will actually need it for the pattern we will be working on in class.
- Sewing machine in good working order
- New size 70 Microtex needle
- Regular piecing foot
- Quarter inch foot
- Good quality sewing thread. I prefer using 80 wt poly cotton quilters select thread but any good quality thread 50 wt or higher will work
- Rotary Cutters
- I have a designated cutter that I only use for cutting papers I use blades that are no longer good for cutting fabric for this cutter and use it for trimming all my pattern pieces.
- I also use size 28 for curved cutting as well as a size 45 for general cutting and a size 60 for cutting large stacks of fabric
- Add a Quarter Ruler
- I use a 6, 12 and 18 inch ruler depending on the project piece I am working on. I like the width of the 18 so I sell it as a 18 or cut to a 6 and 12 inch piece.
- You need a fold template to work with your ruler it can be a simple piece of cardstock or a piece of template plastic approx. 3 inches wide so it works with all the sizes of rulers
