Here's what's new at Quiltworx for March 2020.

Spring is in the air, and we’re right on time with some new spring arrivals! Please enjoy these wonderful new designs. Their fabric lines are (or will be) available in a quilt shop near you any day!

These new patterns are also available in the Quiltster App, and we’re adding old patterns as we can, too! If you’ve never heard of Quiltster, it’s an incredible fabric auditioning software that allows you to pick and choose fabrics before you spend money. Look for the Marketplace and/or Project buttons on the patterns below to access Quiltster layouts if you already have an account with Quiltster.

The Marketplace button allows you to audition fabrics and layouts available from participating vendors, and purchase a kit. The original Quiltster Project, allows you to audition fabrics from your own stash along with thousands of other fabrics from across the industry providing you with an accurate representation of your quilt along with the yardage requirements.

The cover sample was made by the folks at Quiltworx and quilted using one of our digitized quilting designs.

Feathered Star

60″ x 60″ • Fabrics: Ancient Etchings Collection designed by Jackie Kunkel with Island Batik

Our oh-so-talented Certified Instructor, Jackie Kunkel, created this bright eye catching version of Feathered Star in her own fabric collection Ancient Etchings! We loved it so much we published it! There’s only have a limited supply, so get them while they last.

Iceberg Ridge

Check out our new Collectors Club limited edition pattern, Iceberg Ridge! It’s made using our new 68×68 Wintergreen design as the center, but has queen expansion panels added which enlarges Iceberg Ridge to 99×99. The cover quilt was made by Quiltworx and quilted by long arm quilter extraordinaire Cathie Boucher-Sollman of ArtistiCats’ QuiltWorx.

There is only a limited supply of these patterns, and once they’ve sold, they will be no longer be printed.

Prancing Peacock

We’re pleased to introduce our latest 68×68 Courtyard Fountain Mixer Wall Quilt, Prancing Peacock! It made its debut at the Fall 2019 Quilt Market and is now available to purchase. You’ll want to check out the Queen Expansion packages available if you’d like to increase the quilt size to 99×99! The stunning cover quilt was pieced by Certified Instructor Nancy Kloster using the cool colors from our Melon Berry Collection, and was quilted by Cathie Boucher-Sollman of ArtistiCats’ QuiltWorx.

Sandstone Spires

Square: 68″x68″ • Fabrics: Desert Rose Collection

Sandstone Spires was also unveiled at Fall Quilt Market. It’s 68×68, but can be expanded with a variety of Queen Expansion packages too! We have two samples (one in warm fabrics and one in cool fabrics), BOTH from our Desert Rose Collection. The warm version was quilted by Angela Walters (of Quilting Is My Therapy), and the cool version was made by Certified Instructor Kathi Carter Sweet!

Tattered Star

Square: 91″x91″ • Fabrics: Taffy Strip Set and Wallflowers Collection

Tattered Star, is a new Prismatic Star Queen mixer, and uses just one Quiltworx Strip Set, and two other fabrics (in this case, one black and one white), to complete this beautiful quilt! It’s made with our Taffy Strip Set, but you could substitute any of our strip sets for completely different and lovely variation. Cathie Boucher-Sollman has been busy this season, and has also quilted this cover quilt for us!

Wisteria Lane

Square: 58″x62″ Rectangle: 51″x81″ • Fabrics: Quiltworx Taffy Strip Set and Melon Berry Collections by Judy and Judel Niemeyer with Timeless Treasures

Spring is in the air, and with it, a refreshing new look for Wisteria Lane ! The cool thing is that we’ve created this colorway in two different ways. In the 51×81 quilt, we’ve used (48) 2-1/2″ strips from our newest Taffy strip set. In the 58×62 quilt, we’ve used (40) 2-1/2″ strips selected from 20 SKUs from our Melon Berry fabric collection. Coordinated with a border, sashing, and white fabric, the final results are beautiful!

Valley Blossoms: A Worx Sessions Pattern!

This pattern is part of a free tutorial series that will be available on our YouTube channel starting in April. Quilt along with Judy Niemeyer and Vanessa Fromm as Judy demonstrates paper her piecing techniques for each block, and Vanessa demonstrates how she creates her digitized embroidery designs which complement the applique pieces so beautifully. The patterns are shipping at the end of March, so you can pick those up and your fabrics to be ready for the May 16th premiere of the first video!

An old favorite in a new colorway using fabrics from our newest mini collection Cortez. Lakeshore Sunrise is part of our Sunrise Mixer series, which means alternate blocks and fabrics can be auditioned if you have a subscription to Quiltster.

The exploded Lone Star blocks are created using a sewing technique designed by Judy using 2 1/2″ strips sewn to Foundation Sheets, which are then cut apart and rearranged into the diamond star points. Lone Star blocks have never been so easy!

The first pattern in our Courtyard Fountain Mixer Series originally designed for Quiltworx University in Shipshewana! Wintergreen uses only the cool fabrics from our Desert Rose fabric collection, but you could easily switch to the warm colors too! The quilt sample on the cover was pieced and quilted by Certified Instructor Ana Westergard Blickenderfer. It’s a work of art and worth checking out up close on the pattern page!

We also have Queen Expansion blocks available for Wintergreen that will bring the quilt size up to 99″x99″.

Arguably one of our more popular Quiltworx patterns, we’ve freshened the look with our newest fall cotton fabric line, Desert Rose, from Timeless Treasures. Students new to quilting and paper piecing have successfully completed this beautiful pattern, so it’s great for both beginner and experienced quilters.

True story…this pattern was even the inspiration for a birthday cake design for a “Judy” fan. There is a picture!

Licorice Rope

The Licorice Rope was designed as a beginner pattern to introduce quilters to paper piecing. The project is fast, uses only one foundation block, employs simple cutting techniques, and is an affordable and fun way to jump into your first paper piecing project. It is meant to make those new to the process find confidence, understanding, and success. This version by CI Kelly Grant is pure eye candy!

This darling pattern comes with enough papers to make 2 samples! It’s 32″x32″ with an optional border to make a 40″x40″ quilt. If you’re interested in a really quick but adorable project, Starbaby can be completed in just a few hours. It was designed to showcase the basic paper piecing techniques that can be applied to many of our other lone star projects.

We will also have a larger pattern called the Goodnight Star coming soon. It showcases the same star block repeated over and over using a variety of color options that come together in a 96″x96″ quilt.

Introducing the Meadow Star Mixer!

If you attended Quiltworx University in Tucson, AZ, you may recognize some of your own beautiful projects above, and now we’re releasing the Meadow Star Mixer blocks to the world! There are a few that will be publishing over the next two months still, but many are available now for you to work with.

To get the most out of our Mixer patterns, we suggest a subscription to Quiltster, which allows you to dynamically switch blocks in and out, as well as audition fabrics for your quilt before you ever purchase a pattern or fabrics.

Begin designing your Meadow Star Mixer by selecting a quilt size (there are five to choose from), and then start selecting from the dozens of block designs available in each group. By the time you’re done choosing blocks and auditioning fabrics, you’ll end up with a quilt that is totally unique to you!

Christmas Celebration Tree Skirt

You’ve asked, and we listened! Originally published in 2008, quilters have often asked for a way to enlarge and square up Christmas Celebration Tree Skirt. To make that happen, we’ve increased the size to 62″ round, making it compatible with the B & C Groups of the Sunrise Mixer. This allows you to expand the quilt to 70″ round, and even square it up to be an 80″x80″ quilt. We’ve also re-written the instructions updating techniques to include Smart Corners, TRP Lines, and yardage options for several color concepts.

Here’s how it enlarging this pattern works. The Christmas Celebration Tree Skirt pattern fits into Group A of the Sunrise Mixer (62″ round).

You can add the purchase of the Sunrise Mixer Introduction booklet, along with your choice of 4 blocks from Group B (70″ round), and even square it up with your choice of 5 blocks from Group C (80″x80″).

Irish Thistle

The blocks chosen for Irish Thistle are from Group A and B of our soon to be published Courtyard Fountain Mixer. This mixer series will allow you to enlarge this quilt to either 68×68, 77×77, or 99×99, as well as mix and match block designs within each group.
